Police Department headed by Superintendent of Police looks after overall law and order issues in the district. Police Department will also take steps to prevent and detect crimes and traffic regulations in district.SP is assisted by Additional SP in his administration.

There are 15 Police stations in Gadag District.These Police stations are headed by PSI or PI level Officers. There are 11 Circle Inspector Offices and 6 Sub divisional Offices in Gadag.

Objectives

  • Protect the lives and liberties of the people from criminal and anti- social elements.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments of Criminal Justice System.
  • Equal treatment regardless of caste, religion, social and economic status or political affiliations.
  • Due consideration for women, children, senior citizens and weaker sections. Improve professional knowledge, skills and attitudes and adopt modern methods in police work.
  • Promote human rights and professional values of integrity, honesty and efficiency.
  • Accept and play our role in social transformation and bring about improvement in the quality of life with society
